Washington State added to its class of 2023 on Thursday. The Cougars gained a pledge from a former UCLA commit.

Ethan O’Connor was committed to the Bruins before de-committing on Tuesday. O’Connor is a 3-star athlete per the 247Sports Composite out of Los Alamitos, California. He comes in at 6-foot-1, 170 pounds.

O’Connor confirmed the news with a social media post of him decked out in Washington State gear.

247Sports ranks O’Connor as the No. 42 athlete and No. 60 prospect from California. Colorado, Washington, UCLA, Arizona, Arizona State and USC are the Pac-12 teams to have offered O’Connor so far.

Jake Dickert is looking to build off of what was a decent first year in Pullman. Dickert led the Cougars to a 7-6 record in 2022. It looks like what was achieved in year one was good enough to convince O’Connor to flip from the Bruins.

Cameron Ward had a solid first season in Pullman as well after transferring in from Incarnate Ward. Ward threw for 3,232 yards passing with 23 touchdowns and 9 interceptions.

O’Connor has experience playing on both sides of the ball. He has spent time at corner and receiver so far as a high schooler.

Something to watch out for will be how Dickert uses O’Connor.
