Arizona State defensive back Jordan Clark, son of former NFL safety Ryan Clark, announced that he will be entering the transfer portal on Thursday with one year of eligibility remaining.

Clark recorded 139 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, three interceptions (one returned for a TD) and 17 pass breakups over five seasons in Tempe. After playing sparingly in 2019 and ’20, Clark has become a mainstay in the defensive back rotation for the Sun Devils and a crucial player at the nickel spot.

He finished sixth in tackles this season, with 50 in 11 games. He also posted nine pass breakups.

One of a handful of Sun Devils that have entered the portal recently, Clark did respond to criticism of his former head coach Kenny Dillingham, stating that Dillingham is going to lead ASU to its goals and that he has the utmost respect for him.

He is an EXCELLENT coach, and man. This program is in the right hands, and moving in the right direction. Kenny Dillingham is the man for this job, and someone I respect/admire a ton.

Some in the fan base seem a bit concerned by the quality of players that have entered the portal following a 3-9 season in Dillingham’s first year in Tempe. Oft-featured tight end Jalin Conyers announced his plan to enter the portal on Wednesday.

Clark will likely be a sought-after prospect in the portal given his experience and production at a Power 5 program.
