A former Purdue RB announced his plans for the 2023 season on Saturday. The news broke on social media per Kale Steed of PressPassSports.

King Doerue committed to play football for Cal next season. In the video Doerue put on a Cal hat and a shirt that said: “It’s a great day to be a bear.”

Doerue started off last season as Purdue’s No. 1 RB before he suffered an injury early into the year. Doerue went on to play in four games for the Boilermakers in 2022, which gave Devin Mockobee the chance to earn some playing time.

247Sports ranked Doerue as a 3-star RB from the 2019 class. The Amarillo, Texas native was the No. 40 RB and No. 70 prospect from his class. Cal did not extend Doerue an offer as a high schooler.

Doerue is now the most recent Purdue transfer to find a new home. Before that it was QB Brady Allen, who followed Jeff Brohm to Louisville.

The best season of Doerue’s college career was in 2021. Doerue proved to be a versatile running back after accounting for 689 scrimmage yards and 2 touchdowns.

The Golden Bears added a transfer running back to the roster recently in Isaiah Ifanse from Montana State.

Doerue is heading west.
