Washington State debuts new script 'Wazzu' helmets for Utah game
Earlier this week, Washington State teased something new for this week’s contest with No. 14 Utah. On Thursday, the Cougars unveiled a brand-new helmet.
A red lid with the script “Wazzu” on the sides? With Utah wearing its hand-painted helmets again in tribute to Ty Jordan and Aaron Lowe, Thursday night’s contest might be an all-time helmet game.
Wanted to ask you guys something before tonight's game…
Y'all mind if we wear these? 😏#GoCougs | #WAZZU pic.twitter.com/kNZJmmymTj

This will be the first time in the program’s history the helmet has featured “Wazzu,” according to CougFan.com. The Cougars have leaned into the moniker in recent years, but script helmets of the past have featured the team name instead.
The Cougars have lost three of four coming into the matchup and sit a just 4-3 on the year. But with the Cougs coming off a bye week, playing at home, and debuting a new look, the energy should be excellent from the opening kick.
Washington State is looking for its second win this season over a ranked opponent. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. PT on FS1.
