Washington’s 2024 recruiting class has taken another hit from Kalen DeBoer’s departure for Alabama.

Ratumana Bulabalavu, a UW signee, told Greg Biggins of 247Sports that he has decommitted from Washington and requested his release from his National Letter of Intent. A release from his signed NLI before enrolling allows Bulabalavu to find a new program without having to enter the transfer portal. Bulabalavu signed with Washington in December, before Nick Saban’s retirement and DeBoer’s departure from Washington to Alabama.

Bulabalavu told Biggins that he is still interested in playing for Washington, but wants to be free to consider all his options with National Signing Day coming in early February. In June, Bulabalavu took official visits to Arizona, Oregon State and Washington. Jedd Fisch, the Arizona head coach who recruited Bulabalavu, is now in the same position at UW.

Out of the Carlsbad (California) Army and Navy Academy, Bulabalavu is listed at 6-4, 285 pounds by Washington. As a prospect, Bulabalavu is rated 3-stars, the No. 51 California product, No. 83 defensive lineman and No. 731 recruit overall in the Class of 2024 on the 247Sports Composite.

Bulabalavu had scholarship offers from eight programs, including Arizona State, Cal, Oregon and Utah.
