National championship betting line: Michigan opens as favorite over Washington
The College Football Playoff National Championship Game is set for Jan. 8 at NRG Stadium in Houston. Michigan, which defeated Alabama 27-20 in the Rose Bowl in the first semifinal game, grabbed the first spot.
Washington grabbed the second with a 37-31 victory over Texas at the Sugar Bowl on Monday night.
Ahead of the title game, FanDuel Sportsbook released its opening line for the title fight between the Wolverines and the Huskies. Michigan is a 4.5-point favorite with the over/under set for 54.5.
Washington endured some late drama to close out the Longhorns, but the Huskies nevertheless extended their nation-leading win streak to 21 games. UW also won its fifth straight game decided by seven points or less.
UW’s last national championship (1991) featured a 31-14 win over Michigan in the Rose Bowl. The two programs will meet for the 14th time on Monday night in Houston when UW looks for its third national title.
Kickoff for the CFP National Championship Game is set for 4:30 p.m. PT on Jan. 8 on ESPN.
