After the Arizona Board of Regents first scheduled a meeting for Thursday evening, the counterparts at Washington have done something similar.

The University of Washington’s Board of Regents has scheduled a “special meeting” for at 9 p.m. PT on Thursday. The meeting will include an executive session, though no action will be taken, Mike Vorel of the Seattle Times reported.

This meeting comes after ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported that Big Ten presidents have reportedly authorized commissioner Tony Petitti to “explore expansion” as the Pac-12’s future remains in question. Oregon and Washington are the league’s primary targets for expansion at this stage, while Stanford and Cal were previously mentioned as possibilities as well for the Big Ten.

The Pac-12 earlier this week shared a proposed new media rights package that would primarily be a streaming deal with Apple+ with subscription incentives. There wasn’t expected to be “imminent decisions” regarding whether the deal Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff presented on Tuesday would be enough to keep Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon, Washington, or Utah in the fold and away from the Big Ten and the Big 12.
