Utah will wear new black “Ute Proud” helmets on Saturday when it hosts San Diego State

The official Utah equipment team revealed the upcoming team uniforms on Tuesday. It’ll be red pants, black tops, and a glossy finish black helmet with a red facemask. It’s a uniform combination that hasn’t yet been worn by Utah and a slightly-tweaked helmet finish from the black Ute Proud helmet the team previously wore.

Utah hosts San Diego State on Saturday at 7 p.m. PT on ESPN2. The game will offer Utah a shot at revenge for last year’s 33-31 double-overtime loss. That game featured the move at quarterback from Charlie Brewer to Cameron Rising.

“We’ve got a San Diego State team coming in here that put one on us last year and just flat out beat us,” coach Kyle Whittingham said on Monday. “We’ve got to be prepared and ready. I’m sure our guys will have a great week of practice.”

Look good, feel good, play good.

Last year’s Ute Proud game featured white helmets and pants with black tops. The year prior, Utah wore matte black helmets with black pants and a black facemask.
