Utah just lost one of its best offensive weapons to the transfer portal.

Ja’Quinden Jackson, who started his career as a QB prospect in the Class of 2020, will enter the portal after 3 seasons in Salt Lake City, according to 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz. Jackson started his career at Texas as a QB prospect but did not see time on the field in Austin.

Jackson had a 1-year transition period at Utah where he struggled in his new role and finding time on the playing field. However, in 2022 Jackson played very well, finishing with 78 carries for 531 yards and 9 touchdowns.

Jackson saw more carries in 2023 and finished the year with 797 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns. Where Jackson saw some time on special teams and even at QB in 2022 alongside his stout season on the ground.

Jackson served as a captain for Utah during its Vegas Bowl loss to Northwestern. In that game the former QB turned RB rushed for 55 yards, the Utes’ leading rusher on a poor offensive day for Utah.
