Cam Rising shares promising update ahead of Utah season opener against Florida
Cam Rising’s decision will appear to come down to the wire as Utah opens its 2023 season against Florida on Thursday night in Salt Lake City.
Rising ended up tearing his ACL during the Rose Bowl Game against Penn State in January and has been focused on his recovery over the past number of months. Kyle Whittingham hasn’t revealed whether or not the senior will be ready to go against the Gators.
Rising, though, sounds to be in good shape, as noted by KSL’s Josh Furlong:
Cam Rising said he feels “pretty damn good” right now. He’s not going to get into whether he’s been cleared but joked he’ll be ready up to 7 minutes before kickoff.

That’s good news for the Utes. That said, while Whittingham hasn’t made the official call on the status of Rising, his presence certainly will be welcomed in the lineup.
Rising was a top performer for Utah in 2022, throwing for 3,034 yards and 26 touchdowns versus just eight interceptions. He also rushed for 465 yards and six touchdowns.
We’ll see if the California native will get the nod on Thursday against the Gators. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. MT on ESPN.
