Cam Rising reiterates availability to open season, shares team's mentality for 2023
Cam Rising maintains that he’s still on track to start against Florida to open the season as the Utah quarterback continues to recover from an ACL injury.
The Utes are expected to be in the mix for a 3rd straight Pac-12 title, and have been ranked in the top 10 in preseason rankings. Along with USC and Washington, Utah is among the Pac-12 elite. Much will depend on Rising’s health and production after he suffered the injury in the Rose Bowl against Penn State.
Rising injured his left leg during the third quarter in the 109th edition of the “Granddaddy of Them All.” The Utes trailed 21-14 when Rising was injured, and ultimately fell to the Nittany Lions 35-21.
Yet Rising maintains that this season, Utah will be the aggressor in the conference.
“We are not the hunted, we are the hunters,” Rising said on ESPN 700. “This trophy is not ours. Just because we won the last 2 doesn’t mean this is a given. We got to make sure we take it one game at a time and be the hunters out there.”
