USC quarterback commit Julian Lewis reclassifying to 2025 class
USC quarterback commit Julian Lewis is reclassifying from the 2026 class to the 2025 class, according to multiple reports. ESPN’s Pete Thamel was first to share the news.
Lewis was one of the top recruits in the 2026 class and he’ll once again be one of the top overall prospects in the new cycle. The industry-generated 247 Composite has him ranked as the No. 9 overall recruit in the Class of 2025 and the No. 2 quarterback.
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound quarterback has been publicly committed to USC since August of 2023.
“I have been blessed to have two good seasons under Coach Joey King and I have confidence that after this coming season, I will be ready to compete at the next level,” Lewis told Thamel.

The Carrollton (Ga.) High product was the MaxPreps National Sophomore of the Year and a finalist for the Gatorade National Player of the Year award following his 2023 season. He completed 66% of his throws for 3,094 yards and 48 touchdowns against only two interceptions.
As a freshman, Lewis was also the MaxPreps National Player of the Year for his class after leading Carrollton to a 14-1 record and an appearance in the Peach State’s 7A title game. He completed 66% of his passes for 4,118 yards and 48 touchdowns with 12 interceptions that season.
USC hasn’t signed a high school quarterback in the 2024 class. The Trojans didn’t have a 2025 quarterback pledged, either. There was an expectation from those in Los Angeles that Lewis would reclassify and join the program early.
The Trojans will have to hold off major pushes from other programs to get to the finish line, however. According to 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong, Lewis will “continue to consider” Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Indiana, Michigan, and Texas moving forward.
Georgia seems like a sure bet to make a significant push for Lewis as the process moves along. The Bulldogs lost 5-star 2024 quarterback Dylan Raiola just before signing day and they don’t currently have a 2025 quarterback verbally committed to the class.
