USC secured some sorely needed help along the offensive line Friday via the transfer portal. Former Florida Gators offensive lineman Michael Tarquin announced he intends to transfer to USC, where he’ll have two years of eligibility remaining.

Tarquin played in nine games for the Gators in 2022, making eight starts. In 2021, he appeared in 12 games while starting twice. During his time as a Gator, he saw snaps at both tackle spots.

An Ocala, Florida native, Tarquin is a former 4-star recruit from the Class of 2019. He was considered the No. 22 offensive tackle in the class and a top-300 recruit overall.

As a freshman in 2019, he appeared in just three games to preserve his redshirt. The following season, he made appearances in all 10 games for the Gators during the COVID-shortened campaign.

Offensive line is expected to be a major point of emphasis for the Trojans’ staff this offseason. USC is set to lose All-American guard Andrew Vorhees, All-Pac-12 Second Team center Brett Neilon, and left tackle Bobby Haskins. Depending on what happens with Justin Dedich, USC could lose a fourth starter.

Getting the 6-foot-5, 320-pounder could prove to be another instant-impact kind of move for the Trojans in the portal.
