UCLA will lose some depth and experience from its roster with the news that freshman Abramo Canka has entered the transfer portal, according to Jeff Borzello of ESPN.

Canka is a native of Italy who committed to the Bruins last summer, played in 22 games during his lone season in Westwood. He averaged 1.5 points and 0.7 rebounds in 5.4 minutes off the bench as a freshman. Canka shot 44.4% from the field (12-for-27) and 50% from 3-point land (5-for-10).

The 6-foot-7, 200-pound guard/forward spent his youth basketball career playing in his native country of Italy. He also competed within Italy’s national team program at various age levels. Most recently, he competed for Italy in July 2022 at the FIBA Under 20 European Championship, averaging 9.4 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists in seven games. Canka shot 45.6 percent from the field at the FIBA U20 Tournament.

Along with UCLA coming out of high school, programs like Stanford, Texas, Oregon, UConn, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, Xavier and Clemson showed interest in Canka.
