Stanford softball eliminates Washington with 1-hit shutout, advances to WCWS Semifinal
Stanford softball is moving on to the WCWS National Semifinal!
The Cardinal downed No. 7 seed Washington Sunday and will rematch against Oklahoma, which beat Stanford 2-0 on Thursday to pen the WCWS. Washington is now eliminated following an incredible run to the WCWS.
The day was won in the circle for the Cardinal. Freshman pitcher Nijaree Canady threw a 1-hit complete game shutout, willing the Cardinal to a 1-0 winning. Sometimes, 1 is all it takes folks.
Canady totaled 9 strikeouts on the day, tied for the most by a freshman in WCWS history.

The lone run of the ballgame came in the 6th inning. Kylie Chung hit a blooper just over the glove of Washington shortstop Rylee Holtorf, sending the runner from 3rd home.
