College football bowl schedule: Saturday, December 30
The 2nd best slate of the 2023 bowl calendar is here!
No Pac-12 teams will be in action Saturday across 4 games, but it’s still an excellent slate. Notably, No. 5 Florida State takes on No. 6 Georgia in the Orange Bowl while No. 10 Penn State takes on No. 11 Ole Miss in the Peach Bowl.
Both Florida State and Georgia were hit hard by opt-outs, but Florida State is in worse shape. Jared Vere, Tate Rodemaker, Joshua Farmer and DJ Lundy are all expected to miss Saturday’s top 10 bout. As for Georgia, the Bulldogs will suit up without some defensive talent, including Jamon Dumas-Johnson.
But don’t write off Florida State too early. The Seminoles feel slighted after being left out of the CFP, and they’re likely to come out angry against the Bulldogs. Few teams in college football are more dangerous, with or without top players.
In addition, Auburn will face off against Maryland in the Music City Bowl in-between the Peach and Orange bowls. The Tigers will face off against a Maryland squad missing a lot of talent to opt-outs, especially on the offensive end in QB Taulia Tagovailoa.
