The Big 12 has officially announced the addition of Arizona, Arizona State and Utah.

Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark made that announcement on Friday evening after a tumultuous day that also saw Oregon and Washington leave for the Big Ten.

“We are thrilled to welcome Arizona, Arizona State and Utah to the Big 12,” Yormark said in a statement. “The conference is gaining three premier institutions both academically and athletically, and the entire Big 12 looks forward to working alongside their presidents, athletic directors, student-athletes and administrators. ”

With 4 new Pac-12 schools — including Colorado — set to join the Big 12 in 2024, the Big 12 will now be at 16 teams for the foreseeable future. The league has already added Cincinnati, Houston, BYU and UCF in anticipation of Texas and Oklahoma’s departure for the SEC.

All new Big 12 programs from the Pac-12 are expected to receive full shares from the league’s media rights agreement in 2024. The same could not be said for Oregon and Washington, who will reportedly earn roughly half of what a full-share member will make until 2030.

An official announcement for Arizona, Arizona State and Utah joining the Big 12 is expected soon.
