Oregon State ascended to its highest-ever College Football Playoff ranking Tuesday night, climbing six spots to No. 15 in the latest set of rankings from the selection committee.

The Beavers sit one spot ahead of their in-state rivals, the Oregon Ducks. Rest assured the social media team had a last little bit of salt to rub in the wound after Saturday’s 38-34 win over the Ducks.

“Highest ranked team in the state,” the Beavers’ football account tweeted alongside a smirking emoji.

The Beavers scored 28 of the game’s final 31 points on Saturday for a stunning come-from-behind victory. That featured 21 unanswered points to close things out, capped by a game-winning 6-yard rushing score from freshman tailback Isaiah Newell with 8:11 remaining.

The win over Oregon marked Oregon State’s ninth of the regular season, the team’s most since the 2012 Beavers went 9-4. In the bowl game, OSU will be looking for its 10th win of the season for the third time in school history.
