Aidan Chiles is leaving after one season with Oregon State.

Chiles entered the transfer portal when it opened on Monday, according to multiple reports. That answers a weekslong question of whether Chiles would exit Corvallis in the wake of Jonathan Smith’s move to Michigan State.

The expectation is that Chiles will follow Smith to East Lansing, according to 247Sports’ Brandon Huffman.

Chiles signed with Oregon State in the 2023 class. It was a massive recruiting win for Smith, marking the sixth-highest-rated prospect to sign with the Beavers in the internet recruiting era. The 247 Composite had him as a 4-star prospect and the No. 12 quarterback in the class.

Even with DJ Uiagalelei installed as the starter, Oregon State had a small package for Chiles throughout the season. The 6-foot-4 freshman finished with 309 yards and four touchdowns while completing 24 of his 35 passes. Chiles also had 79 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 17 carries.

Uiagalelei has also entered the portal since Smith’s departure, leaving Oregon State’s quarterback situation in disarray heading into bowl season. The 2024 class doesn’t currently have a known verbal commit. Ben Gulbranson is the only scholarship quarterback on the roster for new head coach Trent Bray.

The Beavs face Notre Dame in the Sun Bowl on Friday, Dec. 29.
