Position changes, walk-on additions, and other notes from Oregon's roster update
Oregon updated its online roster on Tuesday ahead of the team’s trip to Los Angeles for Pac-12 Media Day. The season is drawing closer and closer, with the Ducks set to begin fall camp next week.
There are a few position changes to note, one addition from the baseball team, a couple of departures, and a number of walk-ons added to the roster. And, of course, number changes for the new season. Here are some quick notes:
>> Linebacker Adrian Jackson Jr. and cornerback DonJ’Rael Brooks are no longer with the team. Jackson was a 4-star recruit entering his fifth year with the program. After a promising start to his career, he has battled injuries in each of the last three seasons. Brooks was a walk-on that joined the team in 2020 but had yet to appear in a game.
>> Jonathan Flowe is now listed as a defensive back after previously being listed as a linebacker.
>> Jake Shipley has moved from defensive end to defensive tackle.
>> Terrell Tilmon has moved from outside linebacker to tight end.
>> Jackson Powers-Johnson is listed both as an offensive and defensive lineman. He played both ways for the Ducks last season. At the outset of spring ball, he was seen working with the defensive line, but reps along the offensive side came later in the period. It looks like the new coaching staff is still working to decide where he’s best suited to play.
>> Punter Tom Snee has left the team. He announced on Instagram on Monday that he was stepping away to focus on his mental health, writing that he has struggled with depression “for a number of years now.” Snee wrote, “It got to a point earlier this year where I was really close to taking my life.” He said this is something he feels he needs to do. He was the Ducks’ starting punter each of the last two seasons.
>> Bryce Boettcher, an outfielder for the Ducks’ baseball program, has joined the football team as a defensive back.
Heard about this a week or two ago. Looks to be official. Boettcher was a dual-threat QB at South Eugene HS but played both sides of the ball.
Natural athlete, great speed, plays the outfield for Oregon, could be a natural transition to defensive back. https://t.co/4jSYDPZtv3

Nebraska defensive linemen Casey Rogers and Jordon Riley will wear No. 98 and No. 91, respectively. Temple punter Adam Barry has No. 93. Kicker Andrew Boyle has No. 98.
