Oregon added a big-time transfer to its 2024 roster on Wednesday afternoon.

The Ducks earned a commitment from former Duke defensive back Brandon Johnson. The ex-Blue Devil had a productive career in Durahm before deciding to enter the transfer portal earlier this offseason.

He shared the news of his commitment with On3’s Hayes Fawcett:

Johnson proved himself as a significant contributor across multiple seasons with Duke. He has recorded at least 7.5 tackles for loss in each of the past two seasons for the Blue Devils.

In 2023, Johnson totaled a career-high 56 tackles and 8.5 tackles for loss. He was also credited with 2 sacks and 4 pass deflections during the 2023 campaign. In his career at Duke, he has 16 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, 2 interceptions, 11 pass deflections and 2 forced fumbles on his résumé.

Oregon has been aggressive in adding talent via the portal so far this offseason. Johnson is the 10th transfer to commit to Oregon this cycle. Oregon’s transfer class, led by former 5-star WR Evan Stewart, currently ranks in the top 10 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

Johnson will have one season of eligibility remaining.
