Oregon is officially joining the Big Ten for the 2024-25 academic year.

The school’s Board of Trustees voted to unanimously approve the move in a public meeting on Friday afternoon. The Big Ten extended an invitation earlier in the day on Friday.

Oregon is expected to be joined by Washington, who could finalize their move as early as Friday. Both programs will join the Big Ten along with USC and UCLA for the 2024 college football season.

As a condition of the deal, Oregon and Washington will not receive a full share of the Big Ten’s television revenue for the foreseeable future.

Oregon president Karl Scholz said Friday that the program would receive a “partial” share when the Big Ten negotiates its next TV deal in 2030. Scholz said the partial share from the Big Ten is still “more generous” than what they could have earned by staying in the Pac-12.

The move comes as the Pac-12 continues to splinter after not being able to finalize a longterm media deal. Colorado has already announced its plans to join the Big 12 while Arizona has reportedly been approved for that move as well. The same is expected to happen for Arizona State and Utah as early as Friday evening.

An official announcement regarding Oregon and Washington’s admission into the Big Ten is expected soon.
