Mario Cristobal, ACC rearranged his media day schedule to allow him to attend Spencer Webb's memorial
The University of Oregon hosted a Celebration of Life memorial for Spencer Webb on Thursday alongside Webb’s family. Anyone in the area was encouraged to attend.
According to The Miami Herald’s Susan Miller Degnan, Miami head coach Mario Cristobal worked with the ACC to rearrange his media day schedule—the conference’s event is currently taking place in Charlotte, North Carolina—to allow him to fly out to Eugene to attend the service.
Unfortunately, Cristobal’s flight was canceled due to mechanical issues with the plane. Webb’s first season at Oregon was Cristobal’s first as the Ducks’ head coach.

Webb passed away last week in a cliff diving accident near Triangle Lake. He was 22.
According to The Oregonian, LCSO deputies responded to a report of an injured person at the rock slides west of the lake at approximately 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. Webb suffered a fatal head injury in the fall. According to the sheriff’s office, bystanders and paramedics were unable to revive him at the scene after he was recovered “approximately 100 yards down a steep trail.”
After news of his passing made its way down to Coral Gables, both Cristobal and the team sent messages out via social media.
