After he helped Detroit (Mich.) King to a 52-17 win and berth in the Division 3 state championship, 5-star Oregon quarterback commit Dante Moore was asked about Michigan State.

Rumors have swirled in recent weeks that Moore is a potential flip candidate as we approach the Early Signing Period. So The D Zone went straight to the source for an answer on Saturday.

Moore’s response? He’s “locked in with Oregon.”

Moore committed to the Ducks in early July. He’s the second-ranked recruit in the 2023 class, according to 247Sports, so obviously everyone is going to want a piece of him.

On Nov. 2, Michigan State lost its quarterback commit when 3-star Bo Edmundson left the class. According to Spartan Tailgate’s Justin Thind, the Spartans were on board with the decision. Thind reported at the time that coach Mel Tucker and the MSU staff were going to go “to great lengths” to attempt to flip Moore from his Oregon commitment.

Four days later, a Spartan insider from the same outlet logged a Crystal Ball prediction for MSU to flip Moore.

The programs aren’t really comparable at this point. Tucker’s Spartans have fallen to 5-6 on the year, losing 39-31 to Indiana on Saturday. MSU will need a win at Penn State next Saturday to avoid a third losing season since 2016.

Oregon, meanwhile, is 8-2 in Dan Lanning’s first season and in the running to go to a Pac-12 championship game. Lanning’s offensive coordinator, Kenny Dillingham, has been instrumental in helping transform Bo Nix from Auburn cast-off to Heisman contender. Dillingham’s name has been tossed around for several head coaching jobs open around the country right now, and you’d have to think any departure would factor into Moore’s thinking.

But Dillingham is still with the Ducks.

And so is Moore.
