Justin Herbert was a game-time decision Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Last week, he suffered a rib cartilage fracture. Herbert decided to play, and in doing so, made more NFL history.

Herbert completed his 900th pass as an NFL quarterback in the game, becoming the fastest quarterback in NFL history to do so. He got there early on in his 35th career game.

According to Charger Report’s Nick Cothrel, Herbert also reached 10,000 passing yards in the game, becoming the second-fastest quarterback in NFL history to accomplish that feat.

The former Oregon star finished with 297 yards passing, a touchdown, and an interception in the Chargers’ 38-10 loss to the Jaguars. He completed 25 of his 45 pass attempts, including a 54-yard bomb to Charger receiver Jalen Guyton that captivated media and fans alike. Herbert threw the ball off-base and on the run with a defender right on his hip. His lead foot was just inside the Charger 15-yard-line when he released the ball. Guyton caught it in stride and over his shoulder just shy of the Jaguar 30-yard-line.

Herbert is up to 10,260 career passing yards.

Los Angeles plays the Houston Texans next Sunday. The Chargers are dealing with significant injuries up and down the roster, but Herbert was able to play through the entire game Sunday.
