Colorado lands transfer commitment from promising cornerback out of the Big 12
Colorado has landed a transfer commitment from former Oklahoma State defensive back DJ McKinney.
The 6-foot-2 Texas native announced his pledge to CU on social media Sunday night. He comes to Boulder with three seasons of eligibility remaining after spending two years with the Cowboys.

McKinney took a redshirt in 2022 after signing with the Cowboys as a 3-star recruit. He appeared in four games and had two tackles.
This season, he stepped into a featured role in the OSU secondary. McKinney played the second-most snaps among Oklahoma State corners and posted 38 tackles and five pass breakups. He was targeted in coverage 49 times, giving up 22 receptions and two touchdowns.
He becomes the 19th known transfer pledge to join Colorado’s 2024 class. A year after radically overhauling the roster with transfers, coach Deion Sanders has taken a similar approach to talent acquisition this offseason. The 2024 signing class features just six high school players. McKinney is the second defensive back to publically commit to transfer to CU.
