Colorado has landed a transfer commitment from one of the most prolific wideouts at the Group of Five level in college football this season.

On Tuesday, former Florida Atlantic wide receiver and return specialist LaJohntay Wester announced his commitment to CU. The 5-foot-11 senior was the American Special Teams Player of the Year in 2023 and was also selected to the All-AAC First Team as a wideout and a returner. He’ll join the Buffs with one season of eligibility remaining after spending four at FAU.

Wester was electric in 2023. He brought in a single-season program record 108 receptions for a record 1,168 yards and eight touchdowns. He also averaged 19.9 yards per punt return on the season with one that went for a touchdown. Wester even managed a rushing touchdown as well.

For his efforts, Wester was a first-team selection as a punt returner to the FWAA All-America team.

He leaves FAU with 2,703 career receiving yards, 21 receiving touchdowns, 213 rushing yards, two rushing touchdowns, 14 career kickoff returns for 290 yards, and 57 career punt returns for 632 yards and a touchdown in 45 career appearances. He ranks first in FAU history for career receiving yardage, receiving touchdowns, and receptions (252).

With Shedeur Sanders throwing him the football, Wester could be a major playmaker for Colorado next season. He’s a dynamic threat in the open field.

CU now has 20 known transfer pledges so far this cycle. The transfer class ranks third nationally.
