The 125th playing of the Big Game takes place Saturday between Cal (3-7, 1-6 Pac-12) and Stanford (3-7, 1-7 Pac-12). ESPN’s College GameDay crew gave their picks for the game Saturday morning.

Here’s how the crew picked:

  • Desmond Howard: Cal
  • Pat McAfee: Stanford
  • Nick Faldo (guest picker): Stanford
  • Lee Corso: Cal
  • Kirk Herbstreit: Cal

Stanford has won 10 of the last 12 meetings with Cal, including the last six in Berkeley. The Cardinal hasn’t lost a road game to Cal since 2008, but this year’s team has struggled mightily. Stanford is only 1-4 on the road this season, and the offense to 111th nationally in scoring.

Cal blasted Stanford last season, too — a 41-11 victory on the Farm that represented the largest win over the Cardinal since 2004. But the Bears are facing their own kind of adversity right now. They’ve lost six straight and coach Justin Wilcox announced this past week that offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave and offensive line coach Angus McClure had both been relieved of their duties.

Both sides are in desperate need of a get-right game. We’ll see who can pull it out. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. PT on the Pac-12 Network.
