The Golden Bears scored a commitment on Saturday from 3-star athlete Ryan McCulloch.

It would appear the Arcadia (Calif.) Rio Hondo Prep product is coming to Berkeley to play on the defensive side of the ball. McCulloch picked Cal over Washington State, Boise State, and San Diego State.

The 6-foot-3, 235-pound McCulloch rates as a 3-star athlete in the industry-generated 247 Composite. He’s the 120th-ranked prospect from the state of California and the 122nd-ranked recruit at his position.

In addition to football, he also played baseball and basketball for Rio Hondo Prep. The quintessential athlete. As a junior last fall, McCulloch ran for 408 yards and six scores. He caught seven balls for 192 yards and three scores. On defense, he totaled 76 tackles, 23 tackles for loss, and 13 sacks.

His verbal pledge gives Cal its ninth known commitment for the 2023 class.
