Aaron Rodgers, to the delight of Chicago Bears and NFC North fans everywhere, announced Wednesday on the Pat McAfee show that he intends to play for the New York Jets next season. The former Cal quarterback and NFL icon has spent the past 18 years in Green Bay.

Rodgers also told McAfee that he was leaning towards retiring, but changed his mind after his “Darkness retreat” a few months ago in Oregon. He also said the Packers and Jets are working on compensation for a trade.

Rodgers is one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history. The 10-time pro bowler and Super Bowl champion has played 230 career games with 475 touchdowns across his career.

He can make an immediate impact in New York. The Jets have an incredible young group of players, but have lacked at the quarterback position. If Rodgers and the Packers/Jets truly do work out compensation to play in the Big Apple, the Jets would be an immediate Super Bowl contender.
