Jedd Fisch recalls incredible Arizona-related Bill Belichick story
Jedd Fisch had the pleasure of working for one of the best head coaches in football history, Bill Belichick. Fisch recently told NFL writer Peter Schrager about Belichick’s reaction to Fisch telling him he accepted the Arizona head coaching gig.
Fisch explained how Belichick’s first response was “great,” before he took out his cell phone out and told Fisch to call Tedy Bruschi and Rob Gronkowski. Bruschi and Gronkowski are 2 Arizona Wildcat legends who ended up starring for the Patriots under Belichick.
Week 11 of the 21 season, Patriots QB coach Jedd Fisch was offered the Arizona HC job.
He went in to tell Bill Belichick he was leaving mid-season.
The rest is a story on a side of Belichick the public never sees.

“He said, ‘Tomorrow morning, why don’t we meet? And why don’t we talk about what it’s like to be a head coach?,’ Fisch said.
“It was so cool,” Fisch said. “You know, he opened up his book to you, and that was so cool.”
Fisch accepted the Arizona job in December of that year, which meant the NFL season was still going strong. Now he’s entering his 3rd season with the Wildcats. Nevertheless, Belichick respected the enormity of being offered a head coaching job and respected Fisch’s decision. Seeing a different side of the usually stoic Belichick was neat. The fact that one of the greatest coaches of all time respects Fisch should say a lot.
Fisch’s Wildcats will kick off the 2023 season on Sep. 2 against Northern Arizona.
