Dave Heeke, the Arizona athletics director, shared a photo that all but ended the Arizona coaching search as the Wildcats have their new coach to replace Jedd Fisch.

San Jose State coach Brent Brennan will be the next coach to lead the program as Heeke shared a photo on social media of an apparent contract signed and smiles all around. Brennan will replace Fisch, who left for Washington on Sunday, and is the final Power 5 opening after a chain reaction coaching carousel came following former Alabama coach Nick Saban’s retirement announcement.

Brennan spent the past 7 seasons at San Jose State, and led the Spartans to 3 bowl games in the last 4 seasons, including the 2020 Arizona Bowl in Tucson. He went 34-48 at San Jose State, and found notable success at a Mountain West program that has struggled win consistently.

Brennan is the first coach to lead San Jose State to 3 bowl games. He previously was as an assistant coach at Oregon State and Cal Poly, and was a graduate assistant at Arizona in 2000.
