Arizona linked to major point guard target in transfer portal
Arizona has reached out to Cal Baptist transfer guard Taran Armstrong, according to a report.
Armstrong just finished his 2nd season at Cal Baptist. This past season, he averaged 11.3 points and 5 assists per contest. Armstrong also shot 44.8% from the field in 2022-23.
In addition to Arizona, Armstrong has heard from teams like Arkansas, West Virginia, Penn State, Vanderbilt and several other high-majors.
Here’s the list of programs that have already reached out to Armstrong, per On3’s Joe Tipton:
Cal Baptist transfer Taran Armstrong has heard from the following schools since entering the portal, he tells @On3sports:

Armstrong is expected to be one of the top available guards on the west coast in the transfer portal this offseason. At 6-foot-5, he has excellent size for the point guard position.
If Armstrong has a weakness, it’s shooting. He’s a career 30.6% from long range and a 65.3% shooter from the free throw line.
The Wildcats currently have just 1 prospect signed in the class of 2023: 4-star forward KJ Lewis. If Arizona needs to add additional players to its roster this offseason, it could look toward the transfer portal.
