Kenny Dillingham berates NCAA's 'ridiculous' decision to deny Jake Smith eligibility waiver
Kenny Dillingham made his opinion known when it came to the NCAA’s recent decision involving an Arizona State transfer. The Sun Devils HC was not happy about it.
Jake Smith is a WR who played at USC last season. Smith missed the 2021 season with a foot injury and then sat out during all of 2022.
Dillingham commented on the situation and said that it was “ridiculous” that the NCAA denied Smith immediate eligibility for the 2023 season.
“I think it’s ridiculous, to be honest. I think it’s an unbelievable kid who went through a lot. College football is supposed to be about helping kids achieve their dreams, helping them become young men. That’s very disappointing. I think this game helps Jake Smith. Smith’s last six months here growing and maturing as a young man, who’s had a lot of ups and downs. For him to face that is the opposite of what college football is supposed to be.”

Smith last played a down of college football at Texas after not being able to play at USC due to injury. Smith recorded 294 yards receiving and 3 touchdowns with the Longhorns in 2020.
Some of the recent additions from the portal for Arizona State include WR Jordan Tyson (Colorado), IOL Cade Briggs (Texas Tech), and IOL Sione Finau (Purdue).
