Coach Wayne Tinkle and the Oregon State Beavers got some good news on Tuesday.

Ellensburg (Wash.) High forward Gavin Marrs has committed to the program. The 6-foot-11 power forward announced the news on Twitter, making things public just a few days after taking his official visit to Corvallis.

Marrs is the first known 2023 commit in the class for Oregon State. He doesn’t yet have a grade in the industry-generated 247 Composite, but he’s a 3-star in 247Sports’ own evaluation. Marrs ranks as the 45th overall power forward and the fourth-best player in the state of Washington for the cycle.

“I picked Oregon State because of the family atmosphere that surrounds the school and basketball program,” Marrs told 247Sports Eric Bossi. “The coaches really care about your development not only as a basketball player, but as a person. I love the plan coach Tinkle has for my style of play and the relationships I built with him and the rest of the coaching staff ultimately made me choose OSU.”
