It’s not quite March, but there was some madness in the Pac-12 on Saturday. Arizona State took down No. 7 Arizona 89-88 on a halfcourt buzzer-beater.

Desmond Cambridge Jr. was the hero for the Sun Devils, throwing up a long heave in the final seconds. Cambridge started going into shooting motion with roughly 2 seconds left on the clock. It turns out his decision to not dribble any further up the floor worked out just fine.

With the final bucket, Cambridge was ASU’s leading scorer. He had 19 points on 8-of-16 field goal shooting, including 3-of-8 from 3-point territory.

It was a tight game between in-state rivals. ASU led 46-45 at the end of the first half and both teams scored 43 points in the second period. There were 18 lead changes. ASU’s largest lead was by just 4 points. The Sun Devils were ahead for 11 minutes and 13 seconds of playing time, while the Wildcats led for 23 minutes.
