He’s currently in the pool of players for the upcoming NBA Draft, and now Efe Abogidi is also in the transfer portal.

Should he choose to pull his name out of the field for the 2022 NBA Draft, Abogidi will play for a different team next season. The Washington State forward announced on Friday he’d put his name in the transfer portal.

“I would never regret being a part of this team and family,” he said in a video message shared to social media.

Abogidi declared for the draft on Tuesday but said he intended to maintain his college eligibility throughout the process. He has until June 1 to withdraw his name.

The 6-foot-10 forward enjoyed a strong sophomore season as the Cougars broke through with their best year in some time. He started 29 of the team’s 37 games while averaging 8.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks a night.

Abogidi was second in the Pac-12 in blocks per game and defensive plus/minus, trailing only Arizona’s Christian Koloko. He also ended the year third among all Pac-12 players in PER. After an impressive freshman season, Abogidi was an all-around more efficient player as a sophomore and a fierce defender.

His decision to leave the program, one way or the other, leaves Washington State with just two bigs remaining on the roster—Mouhamed Gueye and Dishon Jackson.
