Jake Dickert revealed who will be representing Washington State football this season as captains. The Cougars’ head coach posted the news on social media.

The Cougars will have six team captains this year. Quarterback Cameron Ward, offensive lineman Konner Gomness, wideout Lincoln Victor, edge rushers Brennan Jackson and Ron Stone Jr., and defensive back Chau Smith-Wade were the players chosen for the role.

Dickert had some words of wisdom in his post. He noted how leaders aren’t made for easy times.

“Honored to stand beside this season’s team captains,” said Dickert. “Leadership isn’t made for the easy times it’s made for the storms.”

Dickert had the interim tag removed last season. In his first year as the full-time coach, Dickert led the Cougars to a bowl appearance. The offense was fueled by Ward, who transferred to the program from Incarnate Word.

Now that Dickert has had a full season in the Pac-12 as a head coach, Washington State will be aiming for more.

Dickert and company begin the 2023 season against Colorado State on Sept. 2. Kickoff will be at 4 p.m. PT on CBS Sports Network.
