Washington State has received a verbal commitment from Clearwater (Fla.) Academy International quarterback Evans Chuba.

The 6-foot-4, 205-pound passer revealed his decision on Tuesday, picking the Cougars over Syracuse, East Carolina, and Arkansas State. He took official visits to each of the four, and also held offers from Liberty, Bowling Green, Western Michigan, and Northern Illinois, among others.

Chuba wrapped up an official visit to Pullman over the weekend. He took each of his other three visits earlier in the month and saw all he needed to see to pull the trigger. He shared the moment he told Wazzu coach Jake Dickert with Rivals.

Chuba is a 3-star prospect in the industry-generated 247 Composite. He ranks as the No. 82 quarterback in the class and is the No. 184 recruit from the state of Florida.

As a junior, he threw for 2,173 yards and 20 touchdowns against eight interceptions. He completed 51% of his throws and averaged 8.4 yards per pass attempt. Chuba also added 356 yards and seven touchdowns with his legs while leading Clearwater to a second consecutive Sunshine State Independent Association championship.
