Washington State adds former South Florida linebacker
Washington State football announced a transfer commitment on Thursday. A linebacker is heading to Pullman for the 2023 season.
Davon Hicks will be joining the Cougars after spending his college career at South Florida. Hicks recorded 33 total tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss in 10 games played last season.
Hicks actually committed to UConn on Apr. 27 nearly 10 days after entering the transfer portal. It looks like Hicks decided to change his mind and will play at Washington State instead.

Hicks is a native of Fort Pierce, Florida and attended Vero Beach High School.
Hicks was a former 3-star LB from the 2021 class per 247Sports. He was the No. 141 LB in his class. No Pac-12 schools offered Hicks as a recruit.
A coaching change took place at South Florida this offseason. Former Tennessee OC Alex Golesh accepted the head coaching job opening and will be leading the Bulls in 2023.
South Florida parted ways with Jeff Scott after losing to Temple 54-28. The Bulls finished the 2022 season with a 1-11 record.
Washington State reached a bowl game under first-year HC Jake Dickert. The Cougars reached the Jimmy Kimmel LA Bowl after ending the regular season at 7-5.
One thing to watch will be how Dickert decides to use Hicks on his defense.
