Ryan Leaf isn’t back down from his opinion that College GameDay was distasteful for joking that Washington State vs. Oregon State was the “Nobody Wants Us” Bowl.

Leaf initially blasted ESPN for it through a re-tweet of a video of Washington State head coach Jake Dickert calling out the disrespect. During a recent appearance on Good Morning Football, the former Cougar and No. 2 pick in the 1998 NFL Draft continued his tirade against the network.

Leaf is extremely disappointed that the game wasn’t billed as a feat of resilience between 2 ranked programs that are the remaining holdouts in the Pac-12.

“It is the No One Wants Us Bowl but to watch Lee say it and go [crying face] and McAfee laughing and make it a joke, that’s the problem. You had an opportunity to celebrate 2 teams that are going through incredible adversity,” Leaf said. “Both those coaching staff have these 18-to-23 year-olds that bought into something. They go out and play their tails off. They’re both ranked. No One Wants Us Bowl. That’s how you celebrate them instead of making it a joke.”

Leaf followed up after the show on Twitter to reiterate that the situation was out of character with the College GameDay that he’s come to love over the decades.

“The point of my criticism of @CollegeGameDay was simple. They had an opportunity to make it a celebration of #CFB and instead made it a joke,” Leaf said. “Direct, to the point, and also acknowledging that falling short is a human trait – it happens & we all do it! #CVE23 #GoCougs #GoBeavs.”
