WATCH: Washington's Kalen DeBoer recaps Cal win, looks ahead to bye week
Kalen DeBoer turned 48 on Monday. The first-year Husky head coach spent his birthday morning with members of the media recapping Washington’s hard-fought road win over Cal this past Saturday and looking ahead to a much-needed bye week.
“I thought it was a really good team win for us,” DeBoer said.
As UW moves into its bye week sitting at 6-2, DeBoer welcomed a bunch of the team to his home Monday night for a dinner. Not as a birthday celebration, but rather a first-chance opportunity to have players in his home (the family is finally moved in) and be together.
“We’ve been going 11 weeks now,” he said. “Much-needed break for us for a few days here. … It’s great, our guys are excited about where we’re at, so we’ve got some momentum going into this bye week and we’re ready to have a great November.”
DeBoer spent some time talking about how the schedule changes with a bye week and then a Friday game coming out of it, injuries, and more. You can watch the press conference below. (DeBoer’s portion begins around the 26:15 mark.)
