Washington trending up for high-profile point guard in transfer portal
Washington appears to be in good position to land former Kentucky point guard Sahvir Wheeler in the transfer portal.
Wheeler is one of the most highly-regarded point guards in the portal this cycle. On Sunday evening, 247Sports Travis Branham filed a Crystal Ball projection in favor of the Huskies.

Wheeler began his career at Georgia before playing the past 2 seasons at Kentucky. He has 1 season of eligibility remaining.
For his career, Wheeler averages 10.1 points and 5.6 assists per contest. He also shot 36.6% from 3-point range last season, which was a career-high.
Wheeler would be a big addition for a Washington team that has lost several players from its 2022-23 team this offseason. Keyon Menifield, Tyler Linhardt, Cole Bajema, Jackson Grant and Langston Wilson are amongst the players who have departed this offseason.
Wheeler would presumably start for a Washington program next season that is desperate to make the NCAA Tournament. Washington has 1 NCAA Tournament appearance in the last 12 seasons.
There is no timetable for Wheeler’s official commitment.
