Washington softball will make its 15th trip to the Women’s College World Series. The Huskies finished a Super Regional sweep of Louisiana with a 2-0 victory on Saturday.

The game was scoreless through the first 5 innings. Washington took a 1-0 lead in the top of the 6th inning on a sacrifice fly by Madison Huskey.

In the 7th inning, Kelley Lynch singled to left field. Brooklyn Carter came in to run for Lynch. A grounder and a passed ball moved Carter up to 3rd base. With 2 outs, Carter boldly broke for home.

She was safe at the plate, making it a 2-0 game.

On the mound, Lindsay Lopez picked up the win with 6 shutout innings. Ruby Meylan, Friday’s winning pitcher, picked up the save.

It’s the 8th trip to the WCWS for the Huskies under head coach Heather Tarr. Oklahoma, Stanford, Tennessee, Florida State and Oklahoma State have also secured spots in Oklahoma City. Alabama, Northwestern, Utah and San Diego State are playing for the final 2 spots.
