Washington is a 13-point favorite over the Michigan State Spartans in their Week 3 contest. The over/under from Circa Sports has been set at 62.5.

That point spread figures to fluctuate quite a bit in the coming days.

The Spartans suspended head coach Mel Tucker without pay on Sunday after reports came to light that Tucker was the subject of a university-led investigation into a sexual harassment complaint.

The Huskies are 2-0 and ranked No. 8 in the country. They’re coming off a 43-10 win over Tulsa at home this past Saturday, and will hit the road on Sept. 16 for their first true road game of the 2023 season.

Michigan State is 2-0 as well.

Last season, the Huskies welcomed MSU to Seattle for a Week 3 showdown. At that point, Washington was outside the AP Top 25 looking in while Michigan State sat at No. 11.

UW dominated the affair. Midway through the second quarter, it held a 22-0 lead. By the start of the fourth, the Huskies were up 36-14.

They’d go on to win 39-28 and catapult into the rankings the next week. MSU fell completely out of the AP Top 25 and never recovered. That was the start of a four-game losing streak at Michigan State, which ended the year 5-7.

Tucker’s status as head coach was hotly debated this offseason given the massive 10-year, $95 million extension he received from the university in 2021. That contract also looms large over Michigan State’s handling of Tucker’s suspension.

The Huskies and Spartans face off next Saturday at 2 p.m. PT on Peacock. Other Week 3 odds can be seen below, via Circa Sports.
