Washington is ranked No. 8 in the latest AP Top 25 poll, released on Tuesday.

The Huskies won their debut game on Saturday, 56-19 over Boise State, and moved up two places from their No. 10 spot in the preseason poll.

It was a slow start for UW, which closed out the first quarter trailing 6-0. But the Husky offense caught fire in the second quarter, using a 28-6 frame to take complete control of the game. UW then outscored Boise 28-7 in the second half to win going away.

Quarterback Michael Penix Jr. threw for 450 yards and five touchdowns without an interception. Wideout Jalen McMillan threw a 9-yard pass, ran for a 19-yard touchdown, and caught eight passes for 95 yards and two more scores. Rome Odunze added another 132 yards and a score on seven catches.

The USC Trojans are the highest-ranked Pac-12 team in the AP poll, sitting at No. 6. UW is just behind them. They’re joined by No. 12 Utah, No. 13 Oregon, No. 16 Oregon State, and No. 22 Colorado.
