The Washington Huskies missed a golden opportunity to close the gap in the first half against the Michigan Wolverines.

With the Huskies down 14 in the 2nd, Michael Penix Jr. had a wide-open Rome Odunze for what would have likely been a touchdown. Instead, there was a miscommunication, and Odunze could not come down with the pass.

To make matters worse, the failed connection forced the Huskies to turn the ball over on downs.

It’s unclear whether Odunze ran the wrong route or if Penix just missed the throw, but the result was a massive missed opportunity for the Huskies.

On the team’s first drive, Penix and Odunze failed to connect and the Huskies had to settle for a field goal. Since that point, the Huskies have been playing from behind.

Washington did find the end zone just before the half, making it 17-10 going into the break.
