Washington loses reserve defensive back to the transfer portal
Washington cornerback Jaivion Green has entered the transfer portal, according to multiple reports.
The 6-foot-2 Houston native signed with the program as a 3-star recruit in the 2022 class. He played in every game this season for UW and will move to a new school with three years to play two.
Green signed with UW late in coach Kalen DeBoer’s first recruiting class by way of Houston (Texas) Lamar. He committed to UW in January of 2022 and signed a month later.
As a first-year defensive back, Green played in nine games and totaled three tackles. But he saw more than 200 snaps on the defensive side of the ball.
This season, Green played in all 15 games for the Pac-12 champion Huskies while making 12 tackles and breaking up a pass. He was much more of a special teams performer this fall than he was in his first season, however.
Jabbar Muhammad and Elijah Jackson dominated the snaps at cornerback during UW’s run to the Playoff. Thaddeus Dixon was the next man up off the bench. If Muhammad makes the jump to the NFL, Jackson and Dixon will be the favorites to start next season.
UW also has some youth at the position, with three 2023 signees who all redshirted this season and two more recruits who signed in the 2024 class.
