Washington is preparing for its 2nd College Football Playoff appearance in program history, but the Huskies appear to have lost a member of their defensive back room to the transfer portal.

Vince Nunley, currently in his 3rd year with the team, entered the portal on Tuesday, according to Seattle Times beat reporter Mike Vorel. He will have 2 years of eligibility remaining.

Nunley redshirted his freshman season in 2021 and appeared in a single game in 2022. In 2023, he played in 7 games, making 16 tackles and coming away with 1 interception. Per Vorel, however, he has been out for the last 3 games for “a personal reason”, according to head coach Kalen DeBoer.

A Northern California native, Nunley was a 3-star recruit in the class of 2021. He committed to the Huskies in Sept. 2020 and signed that December before enrolling in the summer.

Washington will return to the field on New Year’s Day, facing Texas in the CFP semifinal at the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans.
