Washington lands commitment from versatile Texas defensive back
The Huskies have their second verbal of the week.
On Wednesday, 2023 Arlington (Texas) Seguin defensive back Diesel Gordon announced his commitment to Washington. According to 247Sports’ Scott Eklund, Gordon gave the UW coaching staff the good news while in town over the weekend. He had interest from Arizona State, Utah, and Colorado State, among others, but Kalen DeBoer and his new coaching staff won the day.

The 6-foot-1, 175-pound Gordon played both defensive back and wideout for Seguin as a junior, but he was limited to seven appearances in his team’s 11 games. Still, he contributed nearly 40 tackles, according to 247Sports. He could theoretically play either at safety or corner in college as he continues to grow into his frame.
Gordon doesn’t have a 247 Composite rating yet (expect that to change soon) but he’s a 3-star prospect by 247’s in-house evaluator team. He’s rated as the 88th-best corner prospect in the 2023 class.
His commitment comes just a few days after 3-star Puyallup edge rusher Jacob Lane announced his commitment to UW. With a big visit weekend looming, Washington’s class currently has six known commitments.
